FAQ

      Where is your studio located?
I am based in downtown Boston. My “studio” is actually my home, where I do all my post-session work. All photo shoots are done on-location. For pet photography that means me coming to your home or meeting you at your favorite park where your pet is most comfortable.

      What is your photography philosophy?
I strive to capture the feel of the moment over the actuality of the moment. To me that means images should leave just enough room for the imagination. When your children stumble upon your wedding photos they’ll not only say, “Mom was beautiful,” but they’ll also pause, “I wonder what she was thinking about here…” To achieve that air of mystery and romance, I utilize whatever light is available, whether it’s sunlight filtering through trees or candlelight flickering on a table. Images are both shadowy and bright, exuberant and light, soft and moody…in other words, layered.

      What is your photography style?
My specialty is candid, natural photography – both in lighting and in poses. I love bringing out the personalities of my couples through a mix of in-the-moment shots and some directed portraits. When I arrive for a shoot, I usually begin by telling everyone to ignore me, until further notice! Joyful photos are my favorite, so I’m always looking for that person with the big gaffawing laugh, or the best dance moves.

What is your pricing for wedding photography?
Pricing varies according to your needs. All wedding packages include high-resolution digital files. Please get in touch for more information –  you may fill out the contact form or shoot me an email directly at info@fatorangecatstudio.com. Be sure to indicate your wedding date (in this format to avoid any confusion: January 1, 2017) and your wedding venue!

What is your pricing for pet photography?
      $650 which includes a $400 print credit.

Do you photograph other genres besides pets and weddings, like babies or portraits?
At this time, I am keeping my focus on just pets and weddings. I can definitely make recommendations to other photographers if you need headshots taken, a family shoot, etc.

      Do you do passport photos?
      No. :)

Do you travel for weddings outside the New England area?
Yes, I’d love a destination wedding or two per season! In past seasons I’ve documented weddings in the St. John US Virgin IslandsDominican RepublicNew York City, Lake George in New York, and Napa Valley, California. I consider parts of Maine destination too! There are however a few choice destinations where I am VERY EAGER to document a wedding, and for those cities I am inclined to waive travel surcharges :) I’ve got my eye on you, New Orleans and Santa Fe…

      What is your equipment?
I’m a Nikon shooter and use fixed-width lenses. Sometimes I’ll bring my film 35mm camera and/or my film medium-format camera.

What is your wedding dress code?
Shooting weddings is a physically demanding job, and especially with unpredictable New England weather (cold and rainy one weekend, hot and muggy the next), it is important that I dress comfortably…while looking absolutely put together! I go for trousers with creases down the middle, a crisp shirt and blazer in dark hues. Shoes are always closed-toe dress shoes – no flip-flops! – and shoulders are covered. I don’t want to be too staid though, and so there are bangles and necklaces, and lots of lipgloss. Well-groomed without standing out!

Do you have an orange cat?
I did! His name was VanBuren (known as Veebs) and when I started this company in 2009 I named it after him. Even though he wasn’t honestly that fat. More plump than fat. There were other orange cats before him. Veebs passed away recently from kidney failure at the age of 14. We miss him but his likeness lives on!
