Old North Church Wedding for Katie & Ian

I second shot for Lisa Rigby for Katie & Ian’s wedding at the end of May. Like my couple Amanda & Bryce the week following, Katie & Ian had their ceremony at the Old North Church. It was not nearly as hot – or as dry – that day, but we were still able to get some lovely portraits at the courtyard of the Boston Public Library and the gardens of the church later on. The reception was held at Smith & Wollensky in the Back Bay. This is the first wedding I’ve been to where the groomsmen were incredibly excited about the “first look” and adamant that they be there to witness it, ha ha! Over at the Church I went crazy photographing the exterior and interior. The overcast day added to the quiet mystery of the space.

The Pugs of South Boston

It’s been raining hard the last 24 hours, a tree a few doors down from us cracked and fell, and we were all startled out of sleep at 3 in the morning to the sound of chainsaws and wood chippers. But at press time the sun has just come out, it’s Friday, and I’m now feeling very good in the neighborhood. I thought we’d start off the weekend right with a pair of pugs named Teddie and Skippy. They live in a beautiful South Boston neighborhood, full of really lovely Victorian houses with views of the water and downtown Boston. It was a really hot day during our shoot so instead of heading to the beach, we went to the park and hung out in the shade and breeze. Afterwards everyone was ready for a nap! (or in my case, an ice-cold beer)

The Cats of Beacon Hill

Back in April I had the pleasure of photographing a trio of felines in Beacon Hill. Their names are Juanita (below on the left), Mocha (below on the right), and Mimi. Juanita sat nicely for one portrait, and after that first shutter click her pupils dilated to the size of basketballs and she was not seen from again! The other ladies hung out with me and in between pictures we gossiped about other cats and braided each others hair. Too bad Juanita missed out on all the fun. Their mom Monica is a pet sitter in Boston whose speciality is caring for your pet -at your home- where they are most comfortable. If you are a cat owner and if you travel frequently, then you know cats are not the types to be boarded at day care, so this is great service! Willowdale Wedding

Cara and Jesse were supposed to be married in March, but due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, they were forced to postpone their wedding at Willowdale Estate until May. Their original photographers, the lovely and talented Kendra and Matt of Summer Street Photography, were not able to make this new date, so I was honored with the task of filling their very big shoes! I shot alongside their associate photographer Chuck, and together with this fine pair on this fine day, the wedding was finally off and running – this time without a hitch!

Summer Street has already posted the story of their day, so I’m keeping this short and showing some of my favorite portraits, details, and pretty spring things!
