Biggie & Tobi at the InterContinental Hotel

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 { Around Boston, Dogs, Seaport }

Here are Biggie and Tobi at the InterContinental Boston, a sparkling hotel right on the waterfront. No, they are not a bride and groom having their wedding at the hotel, though you may refer to them as a couple. A power couple, even. They are one white German Shepherd (that’s Biggie) and one Boston terrier/Bulldog mix, and they call the InterContinental their home. We met one crisp Fall day, and started in their backyard.

We headed to the frontyard, otherwise known as the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

They look like they’re about five minutes into an arranged marriage:

As usual, everyone gets involved to get two dogs to sit still. Mom is holding a treat above the lens to entice the boys to smile at the camera.

Phil the Beagle

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 { Around Boston }

Phil the playful beagle lives with his parents in Boston’s Seaport District. Boston is actually a tiny little city and I feel like by now I know all its kooky nooks and crannies. But dump me somewhere beyond the Financial District and it’s all pin the tail on the donkey for me. I don’t know what’s left or right, even with OCEAN staring me in the face. And despite being on the waterfront, the area to me has been confusingly…blank. There’s nothing to see, nothing to eat.  But things in the Seaport District seem to be changing. The high-end retailer Louis Boston moved from their landmark location smack in the middle of Boston to this area. There is a bar called Drink that I’ve been dying to go to. And the Institute for Contemporary Arts museum is also here. I think every wedding photographer I know has shot at the ICA, so I was curious to do it myself. And it’s always great to shoot somewhere new and with a fresh perspective.

Hm I just learned that this is area is officially called the South Boston Waterfront. Anyway…onto Phil! We met at the ICA (where we competed for space with an engagement shoot, heh), then made our way to the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The photos are a birthday gift for Phil’s dad.

Phil likes to run, likes to jump, loves bicycles and America too! He also likes to be anti-establishment.

Jake and Buckley

Monday, September 20th, 2010 { Back Bay, Dogs }

Jake is a 7 year-old pointer mix. He has two very important jobs. One is gunning down all those icky, in-your-face squirrels at the park. The other is partnering with his mom in her office as a therapy dog. Buckley is his little Golden Retriever brother. I think his biggest job is to annoy Jake. He is also very talented at karate chopping water fountains with his bare teeth. We spent one beautiful weekday afternoon in Bay Village and the Boston Public Garden doing all these things.

Beacon Hill Engagement Photos for Anny and Anthony

Thursday, September 9th, 2010 { Around Boston, Beacon Hill, Engagements }

Welcome friends! It is time to give your tired, puffy eyes a little vacation, and let them feast upon this gorgeous pair of A-RAAWR! that I found roaming around the alleyways of Beacon Hill. Anny is all pre-bridal loveliness in her whipped cream-covered cupcake dress, while her fiance Anthony is looking sleek and dapper in his sleek and dapper slacks. I must make a mention that in all these photos, Anthony is hiding a Ph.D. in his back pocket, and so coupled with his John Travolta chin dimple, he is unfortunately way out of my league. But fortunately he is not beyond Anny’s, so I was happy to take what I could get and photograph this very handsome couple on a warm summer’s afternoon in my favorite parts of Boston. Everyone wins! We started in Beacon Hill, where I managed to avoid my arch nemesis Acorn Street, and ended in the Public Garden.

Anny and Anthony are getting married next year and I’m looking forward to seeing them again then!

Oleana Restaurant Wedding Reception for Max and Bailey

Thursday, August 26th, 2010 { Around Boston, Weddings }

Max and Bailey had a beautiful wedding in their backyard in front a handful of family and friends. The next day, they put their wedding clothes back on and threw a larger reception on the romantic outdoor patio of Oleana Restaurant in Cambridge, Mass. For all intents and purposes it was another backyard wedding (love love love). Oleana itself sits snug between residential triple-deckers, and is housed inside the first floor of one too. It’s one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Here are some detail shots of the pretty space and the delicious food. And the good time had by all!
