Some calligraphy work before being sent to the client, and some in action on the field. I really enjoy mixing cursive and script, and though I’m slowly finding my style, I find I really can’t do anything the same way twice. Is there a style in controlled inconsistency? :) It seems my biggest decision with each project is how to execute the flourishes – over or under and/or with a large/small/no curlicue at the end?

I can’t wait! Otherwise known as a sneak peek.

Sarah and Rich’s wedding was last week and I cannot believe that after what felt like an eternity waiting to shoot it and thinking the day could not get here soon enough, it’s really all over! And this is just me. Nevermind what it’s like for Sarah who had been planning these last two years! I can’t wait to share more of their photos here. In the meantime here are several sneak peeks, including the scrumptious carrot wedding cake baked by the bride’s sister, and the finished product of her family’s new PHOTO BOOTH company which debuted at the wedding. It was a wonderful family affair!

MIT Chapel Wedding for Karin & Sri

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 { Weddings }

Here is Karin and Sri’s wedding at the lovely MIT Chapel, followed by their Boston harbor reception aboard the Odyssey. I love this wedding. I love this space. It’s amazing what a single skylight and a metal installation can do to a little round windowless room. Sparkle! Confetti! Genius! Sri had a custom suit made for the special day, while Karin wore her mother’s 1950′s wedding dress and veil. The wedding was so much fun that they had a second full-blown wedding the very next day! More of that to come later. For now…

Now for the reception dinner on the Odyssey! I love boats. I hovered about the gentleman below for some time, waiting for the flag to unfurl just so. He saw me and probably thought I love him. Well guess what, I do love him, because he saw me, and didn’t react…just continued socializing and drinking his beer as before. Most people naturally freeze up with they see a camera pointed at them and smile…but that’s when the jig is up and I stop shooting! I’m trying to be invisible.

Jake and Buckley

Monday, September 20th, 2010 { Back Bay, Dogs }

Jake is a 7 year-old pointer mix. He has two very important jobs. One is gunning down all those icky, in-your-face squirrels at the park. The other is partnering with his mom in her office as a therapy dog. Buckley is his little Golden Retriever brother. I think his biggest job is to annoy Jake. He is also very talented at karate chopping water fountains with his bare teeth. We spent one beautiful weekday afternoon in Bay Village and the Boston Public Garden doing all these things.

Wedding at the Dalton House | Marika and Jesse

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 { Weddings }

Marika and Jesse first met at the Savannah College of Art and Design. 10 years later they made it official! Here is their wedding day at the historic Dalton House in Marika’s hometown of Newburyport, Mass. Among the crowd of amazingly fun guests were Jesse’s southern-grown family members – fellow Georgians, yeah! – and this was their furthest trip north by many states. There were big, big smiles, a little tears, and a whole lot of dancing. Not sure if the creaky, built-a-freaking-long-time-ago house appreciated all the wild thumping induced by Michael Jackson and Rick Springfield (“Jesse’s Girl” of course) but everyone else definitely had a great time.

Their college friend Dan officiated the wedding. Hands down the most hilarious and awesomest officiating I’ve ever witnessed. I wish I had a transcript of the whole thing.

^ The Dalton House is filled with portraits of post-colonial presidents and politicians, including this rather ghoulish one of John Quincy Adams.
