Rummy the Vizsla at home

August 11th, 2010

Here is Rummy the Vizsla of Cambridge, MA. I loved loved loved this shoot, even though it took awhile to get Rummy to relax in front of the camera. It turns out he just needed some props, something to do with the hands :) As soon as we went out into the backyard, it was like a fuse ignited under his belly. I photographed two different dogs that day!

He looks great in color and in black and white, so I had a hard time choosing. We start off with a shot of Rummy getting a calming forehead rub from his mom. Easy now Rummy. I know I’m all up in your face but everything will turn out a-okay…

BEHIND THE SCENES

I think I am officially apprenticing Dan to become a semi-photographer. He usually comes along to my pet shoots because 1) I need a driver sometimes, ha 2) I need someone to help me get the dogs’ attention 3) it’s really fun and therapeutic. He was never really interested in learning photography itself…but it seems the tide is turning. He’s been asking me about f-stops and ISO and shutter speeds and the relationship among the three. A very big baby step! Gotta take advantage it.

Pointer head-tilts are theeee best! I love the relaxing forehead rub photo. Emma needs those all the time. I love pointers, they’re so cautious about things and you can see it in their eyes. Gorgeous shoot, Li!

Love the gray face! I have older dogs, and it’s always fun to see other people’s longtime buddies.

Also, holy cow, your client’s boots are amazing! If you get a chance to ask her (or if she reads this) can you find out what brand they are?

  8. Andra Says:

wonderful shoot – you really can see him change outside… well done!

Li, you did a fab job getting him to be comfortable! If you hadn’t included some of the first shots or told us that, no one would have ever known. LOVE the last one. I personally love capturing pets with their people’s legs/shoes too. :)
