LAME.
Well. I was going to start of this week by talking about our new kitten (!!! yay !!!) but instead I have to make this downer of a public announcement: Please don’t copy other people’s work. It’s lame. And illegal, and blah-dee-copyrighted-intellectual-theft-mumbo-jumbo. But mostly, it’s just lame. Laaaaaame.

My blog design is based on this free wordpress theme which I picked apart to oblivion.
So aside from the layout dimensions, fonts, colors, they took my accent images. Next to the post title is my orange beveled square with a watercolor texture, and a 2-pixel high gradient, also with a watercolor texture, that took me forever to make. It’s not like some graphical masterpiece, but I did it myself so it’s mine. It’s mine!
I think the only reason they didn’t take the header image too is because my name and “fat orange cat studio” is on it. They didn’t have any problems using the cat icon. It’s cherry-picking thievery.
They link to me on their blogroll. Did they think I would see this and not be offended by this? I wasn’t able to leave comments to tell them otherwise. So here is this blog post.
I am offended. Be a man and come up with your own stuff.

I can’t seem to leave a comment. When I submit it just goes nowhere. Can’t find an email either. I found them through my referral links. They’ve linked to me for some time now, but I randomly decided to visit again today.

I’ve had this happen to me as well. Some girl cut and pasted my pricing page. When confronted she resorted to name calling. Sorry this happened to you. Sucks and you’re right…it’s lame.

Unfortunately I think this happens more often then you know. It happened to a friend of mine who takes excellent wildlife photos. It also happened to a good friend of mine who is an artist. Some people are so lame and unoriginal. If they liked your website so much then they should have come up with something similar, not stolen your work. Sorry that happened.

It’s always astonishing to me that those who are supposedly selling their ‘artistic creativity’ would blatantly steal the ‘artistic creativity’ of others. Those lacking general common sense and decent business ethics have no business doing business!

This is disgusting – I have no regards for those who don’t respect another the work and the copyright for another artist.
I tried to leave a comment on their recent post to chastise them but the comment function did not work!

Imitation – the LAMEST form of flattery. Thank you for taking the risk of putting your beautiful work out here for others to enjoy, even though it puts you at risk of being copied. We all know who the real genius is.

So sorry that happened to you. Can’t understand why so many people think it is okay to copy and put on their blog. There have been several blogs that I just love their banner and layout and wish mine could look as good but never would I ever thing to snatch their work and present it as my own. Guess I was raised with old fashion values for I just got a Dummies book to try to learn how to have a fabulous looking blog.
Hope this does not stop you from publishing your amazing pets photo shoots.
